India: Power supply shortfall rises to 2,595 MU in April

India witnessed a shortage in power supply to the tune of 2,595 million units (MU) in Apr’22, registering an exponential rise of 524% y-o-y. Spurred by intense heatwave, the demand for power had gone up significantly, but it was not duly met which compelled the states to impose power cuts. Overall power consumption during Apr increased 13% y-o-y to 132,106 MU.
