India’s power consumption rose to 115.39 billion units (BU) in Jun’21, increasing by 4.7% m-o-m and 10% y-o-y. However, power demand in the pre-pandemic month of Jun’19 had been recorded at 117.98 BU. Experts anticipate electricity demand to rise from Jul onwards as the number of new Covid-19 cases decline and restrictions are eased further resulting in reinvigorated economic activity.
