India’s power consumption in the 1-15 Jun’21 period stood at 55.86 billion units (BU), rising by just 1% against the same period last month. The pace of recovery in commercial and industrial electricity demand remains slow. Power consumption in the pre-pandemic month of Jun’19 had been recorded at 182.45 BU. Experts anticipate electricity demand to rise from Jul’21 onwards as new Covid-19 cases decline and restrictions are eased further resulting in reinvigorated economic activity.
