Portside prices of Indonesian 5000 GAR coal have risen to INR 11,500/t, while 4200 GAR coal prices are heard at 9,500/t (excluding cess and GST). Prices rose sharply following the Indonesian government’s strong stance of continuing with its ban on coal exports announced on 31 Dec’21. The fate of 1.4 mn t of Indonesian coal-laden vessels scheduled to arrive on Indian shores in Jan’22 remains uncertain.
