Pig iron demand remained sluggish all over India, with a price correction ranging from INR 200-500/MT.
Market at Durgapur along with Bokaro witnessed a downtrend of INR 200/MT; resting at INR 25,200/MT & INR 23,700-23,800/MT (basic) respectively.
Similarly in Central India, demand remained static with Monnet Ispat continue to offer at INR 25,800/MT (Ex-Raigarh) and Raipur, which was offering at a higher rate than Raigarh & Cuttack, has also made price correction of INR 500/MT and offering at INR 26,300/MT (basic).
Secondary manufacturers are here waiting for NINL to open its Pig iron domestic offers for the month of July, so that these manufacturers could price accordingly.
Pig iron prices expected to fall further, as a result of sluggish finished demand with the arriving monsoon as well as increase in Iron ore supply, as discussed by the panelist in the event organized by SteelMint.
“Iron ore mines in Odisha will start its operation by July-end. This may built pressure on the prices of raw material and semi finish,” said experts at Indian Pellet & DRI Summit, Kolkata.
