Petcoke prices in India have remained unchanged, while demand from the non-cement sectors was on the rise.
Traders, spoken to by CoalMint, said that demand for Petcoke from the non-cement sectors, like paper, textile and chemicals was stronger, while, demand from the cement sector was soft. The dullness in demand from the cement sector was due to the slowdown in the construction activities in the country, forcing cement makers to operate their plants at low rates.
The latest import offer for Petcoke (6.5% Sulphur) from USA is assessed at around USD 90/MT CFR India; and that for Petcoke (9% Sulphur) from Saudi Arabia at around USD 87/MT CFR India. These offers are marginally higher than that in the week last.
