Petcoke imports in India in Oct’17 were up by 20.24% against the imports in Sep’17, according to an analysis on the import data collected by CoalMint Research. In the context of the imports, it is to be noted that the imports were booked before the occurrence of the Harvey hurricane in late Aug’17.
During Oct’17, around 1.01 MnT of Petcoke had landed at Indian ports; and that was up from the imports of around 0.84 MnT in the preceding month.

On a year-on-year comparison, the Oct’17 imports were down by around 12.17% against the imports of around 1.15 MnT in Oct’16.
A break-up of the countries of import during the month under consideration shows that the imports from USA was lower; while, that from Saudi Arabia were higher.

Amongst the ports, the Kandla port had handled the highest volume of the import traffic; followed by the Mundra and Vizag ports.

The major importers were: SBC Minerals, Wonder Cements, Swiss Singapore, India Cement, JSW Steel, Shri Cement, Adani Cement, Ambuja Cement, among others.
