The sales of passenger vehicles increased by 18% y-o-y in Feb ’21, according to the data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Overall, a total of around 281,380 passenger vehicles were sold last month compared to over 238,622 units during the same period last year. However, three-wheeler sales declined by 34% y-o-y at 27,331 units last month. “Supply chain challenges including rising price of steel, unavailability of semiconductors and higher container charges, continue to be obstacles in smooth functioning of the industry”, commented SIAM Director General, Rajesh Menon.
