Bhubaneswar: With the restriction on transport of minerals by road comes into force from today, OMC anticipates that allotment and delivery of its chrome ore could be delayed. The Odisha Government controlled miner has conducted e-auction of 52,600 MT of friable and 10,000 MT of concentrated Chrome ore on 7 Apr, 2014.

The normal delivery period for the March e-auction is from 23 Mar, 2014 to 21 Apr, 2014 which could be extended further. So, the delivery for the current month would start only after this.
It is noted that Iron ore transportation through trucks has been stopped from today (Friday) for the next 11 days (till 20 Apr, 2014) through the NH5on account of the general elections. The order has been issued by the Kedrapara district collector and district election officer Nitin Bhanudash Jawle. Due to this restriction, mineral transportation from the mineral rich Keonjhar & Sundargarh district to the Paradip port has already been stopped. Earlier, the Keonjhar Collector Bishnu Prasad Sahu has also ordered restriction on transportation of Iron ore & Manganese through road. Over 40 thousand trucks employing 80 thousand people are directly engaged in mineral transportation in Keonjhar & sundargarh district.
