India: OMC Chrome Ore Prices rise for all Grades

Bhubaneswar: Chrome ore prices of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) have increased for all grades in the e-auction concluded on 10 Feb, 2014 mainly, due to factors like lower quantity on offer and opening of Chinese markets after the spring festival holidays.

The 54+ grade friable Chrome ore of South Kaliapani mines has increased to INR 13,933/MT which was INR 12,664/MT in the previous e-auction. Meanwhile, the price of the same grade at Sukrungi mines has increased to INR 15,933/MT. The price of the 52-54 grades has increased to INR 14,676/MT which was INR 12,121/MT last time. The prices of outside quota for 54+ and 52-54 grades have increased to INR 12,833/MT and INR 12, 276/MT respectively.

Not only friable, prices of Chrome ore concentrate has also increased as 38-40 grade prices increased to INR 8,003/MT and 42-44 grade prices to INR 9,894/MT.
From the inside quota, JSL has managed to get an allocation of highest 24,700 MT from the inside quota. Rohit Ferrotech has got an allocation of total 7,700 MT. Among the outside quota buyers Sri Vasavi gets 4,500 MT and Rohit Ferro gets 2,800 MT allocations.

It may be noted that there was total 51,500 MT of friable ore on offer and out of this 36,000 MT have been earmarked for the inside state buyers and 15,500 MT for the outsiders. On the other hand, there are 10,500 MT of concentrate Chrome ore on offer.
