In a recent official communique, the Joint Director of Mines, Keonjhar, has urged the Manager of JSW Steel’s Jajang iron ore mine in Odisha to comply with prevailing iron ore stacking norms and submit a report at the earliest: The letter points out certain irregularities at the auctioned lease. These are:
- Lack of conformity with applied measurements, quantity and grades of stacks for storing run of mine (ROM) ore.
- Stacking oversized (+10mm to -15 mm) iron ore along with fines in the same stacks.
- Denial by the lessee to produce location-wise stacks for verification by the concerned team from the Directorate of Mines.
