SteelMint’s price assessment for sponge C-DRI (70:30, mix material) in Rourkela, Odisha increased by INR 450/t (1.5%) to INR 31,450/t ($427/t) on 20 Sep’21.
About 3,550 t of deals were confirmed at INR 31,200-31,500/t exw-Rourkela. A deal comprising 450 t of C-DRI lumps of premium grade (FeM 80-82%) was also reported at INR 32,500/t exw from the Jharsuguda market.
Rise in billet prices (by INR 550/t d-o-d) along with high coal prices led to higher offers which continued to support sponge prices, sources informed.
