India: Odisha Iron Ore Dispatches from Merchant Mines Up 9% in May’17

Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state accounts for nearly 50% of country’s iron ore production. The iron ore dispatches from  merchant miners in Odisha have increased significantly by 33% Y-o-Y in FY17. The state based merchant miners supplied 61.05 MnT iron ore in domestic market compared to 45.84 MnT in previous fiscal.

Iron ore dispatch by Odisha based merchant mines stood at 6.17 MnT in May’17 against 5.66 MnT in Apr’17. The figures exclude movement for export and dispatches of captive miners – SAIL, Tata Steel & JSPL.

Among Odisha’s merchant iron ore miners – Rungta Mines dispatched highest quantity of ore followed by Serajuddin Mines and KJS Ahluwalia.

Rungta Mines’ iron ore dispatches increased 9% M-o-M to 1.75 MnT in May’17 compared to 1.61 MnT in Apr’17.

Serajuddin Mines dispatched 0.74 MnT iron ore in May’17 compared to 1.07 MnT in Apr’17, down 30% M-o-M. Iron ore dispatches of state owned miner – OMC were increased by 7% M-o-M to 0.50 MnT in May’17.
