India: Odisha Iron Ore Dispatches from Merchant Mines Up 13% for Aug’17

Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state accounts for nearly 50% of country’s ore production. Iron ore dispatch of merchant miners in Odisha was up by 13% M-o-M in Aug’17.

State based merchant miners supplied 6.32 MnT iron ore in Aug’17 in domestic market compared to 5.59 MnT last month. It was also up 42% Y-o-Y for the month of Aug’17 compared to last year. The figures exclude movement for export and dispatches of captive miners – SAIL & Tata Steel.

Among Odisha’s merchant iron ore miners – Rungta Mines dispatched highest quantity of ore followed by Serajuddin Mines and KJS Ahluwalia.

Rungta Mines’ iron ore dispatches increased 1 % M-o-M to 1.87 MnT in Aug’17 compared to 1.85 MnT in Jul’17.

Serajuddin Mines dispatched 0.95 MnT iron ore in Aug’17 compared to 0.75 MnT inJul’17, up 28% M-o-M. KJS Ahluwalia iron ore dispatches increased by 29% M-o-M to 0.62 MnT in Aug’17.

Iron ore dispatches of state owned miner – OMC doubled to 0.35 MnT in Aug’17 against 0.17 MnT in Jul’17.

Odisha based major merchant miners had raised prices twice in Aug’17 amid hike in sponge offers. Offers for iron ore lump increased up to INR 600/MT and that for fines were increased up to INR 300/MT.
