Dispatches of Chrome Ore by Odisha miners have increased by almost 15% in Dec’19 M-o-M. TATA Steel remained the largest miner to dispatch 166,086 MT of Chrome Ore in Dec’19, which is 12% higher as compared to the previous month. Most of the dispatches were for Nava Bharat Ventures, the dispatches were higher by 92% M-o-M and are comprised of 24% of the total dispatches by TATA Steel. TATA Steel held only 11% of the total quantity for captive use. Meanwhile, dispatches to its subsidiary unit TS alloys increased by 47% M-o-M with a quantity of 21,196MT, which is also 12% of the total dispatches from TATA Steel. Aarti Steel and Nava Bharat ventures remained the largest buyers of Chrome Ore from TATA Steel with 24% and 18% of the total dispatches.
Meanwhile, dispatches of OMC reduced marginally by 3.5% in Dec’19 against Nov’19. The total dispatch quantity remained at 63,330MT. Jindal Stainless and Visa Steel were the two major companies to buy OMC Chrome Ore. Jindal Stainless accounted for 41% of the total OMC Chrome ore dispatches with 26,335MT quantity. Visa Steel accounted for 10% of the total OMC Chrome ore dispatches in Dec’19 with 6,270MT quantity.
Dispatches from IMFA remained stable in Dec’19 with 28,147MT. Meanwhile, Misrilall Mines whose dispatches were closed for the past three months kept 16,190MT for captive use. Dispatches from BC Mohanty increased significantly by 31% in Dec’19 M-o-M. Most of the companies reduced their intake for Chrome ore as they have reduced their Ferro Chrome production given the present Ferro Chrome Prices.
