R P Sao, who started sales of stocked Iron ore against Odisha High Court order, has received an overwhelming response.
Sources say, miner has managed to sell around one million tonnes of stocks within a week.
Odisha High Court’s order for Writ Petition No.15593 of 2014, had allowed M/s Ramesh Prasad Sao (R.P. Sao) for dispatches of stocked Iron ore at mines in Barbil (Odisha). These permits are valid for 3 months (i.e from 4th Sept – 4th Dec 2014). However, mining is still restricted.
RP Sao is one of the largest merchant miner in the sector, with an annual capacity of 4.5 million tonnes (MnT) per annum. Sources say, miner had about a million tonne of Iron fines stocked and most of it was bought by Pellet manufacturers based in Odisha, Chattisgarh and West Bengal.
A Pellet manufacturer who also bought ore from RP Sao mines, mentioned that it will give some relief to manufacturers, who are struggling hard to source Iron ore after State government suspended mining operations based on Supreme Court’s order.
