- Partnership aims to optimise coal resource utilisation
Odisha Coal and Power Limited (OCPL) and NTPC Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the sale of 3 million tonnes (mnt) of surplus coal from OCPL’s Manoharpur Coal Mine. The agreement was signed at the state’s Energy Department in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Dev.
The partnership is aimed at ensuring optimal utilisation of surplus coal resources while strengthening fuel availability for the power sector. The arrangement is expected to improve coal allocation efficiency and support reliable fuel supplies for thermal power generation.
As per reports, under the one-year agreement, NTPC will source coal for its 1,320 MW Khargone Super Thermal Power Station and 1,600 MW Gadarwara Super Thermal Power Station, both in Madhya Pradesh.
The agreement also reflects closer collaboration between state-owned mining and power entities to enhance resource management and support India’s growing electricity demand.
