India: NTPC acquires Jhabua power plant via insolvency route

India’s largest power producer, NTPC, has announced the acquisition of the 600 megawatt (MW) Jhabua coal-based plant located in Madhya Pradesh. This was the company’s first acquisition of a power asset through the corporate insolvency resolution process initiated by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). After the acquisition, NTPC’s total installed capacity now stands at 70,064 MW.
