NMDC has supplied 504 rakes (1.94 mn t) of iron ore from its Chhattisgarh mines in the month of Mar’21, as against 458 rakes (1.76 mn t) a month before, according to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint.
NMDC’s iron ore rake movement from its Chhattisgarh mines to state-based steel units stood at 74 rakes in Mar’21 compared to 75 rakes a month ago, as per railway movement data maintained with SteelMint. State-based units continued to prefer using NMDC ore over domestic pellets due to cost-effectiveness. The miner had raised iron ore fines price by INR 100/t and DR CLO by INR 290/t on 21 Mar’21 after announcing a rollover in early Mar’21. SteelMint’s domestic pellet index PELLEX recorded trade volumes of just 82,000 t in Mar’21 and an average price of INR 12,150/t DAP Raipur, up by INR 500/t, m-o-m.
NMDC’s supplies to outside state-based units up 11% in Mar’21: The procurement by outside Chhattisgarh-based units picked up in Mar’21 to 402 rakes (about 1.55 mn t), against 361 rakes a month ago.
RINL’s total iron ore procurement increased to 264 rakes for the month as against 179 rakes a month ago.
JSW Steel, Dolvi’s procurement from NMDC decreased 11% to 66 rakes as compared to 74 rakes in Feb’21.
Movement for exports increased by 27% to 28 rakes in Mar’21 against 22 rakes in Feb’21.
