India: NMDC iron ore rake movement from Chhattisgarh mines declines in Aug

NMDC (Chhattisgarh) has supplied a total of 193 rakes (0.74 mn t) of iron ore in the month of Aug’20, down 29% against 272 rakes (1.05 mn t) a month before, according to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint. Heavy rains hampered production & dispatches, sources reported.

NMDC’s iron ore rake movement from its Chhattisgarh mines to state-based steel units has moved down 12% to 37 rakes (0.14 mn t) in Aug’20 as against being 42 rakes (0.16 mn t) a month ago, as per railway movement data maintained with SteelMint.

NMDC increased iron ore prices twice in the month of Aug’20. Prices for lump and fines moved up by INR 300-350/t towards mid Aug’20. Prior to it, the miner had raised prices for lump and fines by INR 200/t each on 31 July.

NMDC’s supplies to outside state-based units down 35% in Aug’20:

The procurement by outside C.G based units dropped for the month by 35% in Aug’20 to 130 rakes (about 0.50 mn t), against 201 rakes a month ago.

Movement for exports was down by 10% to 26 rakes in Aug’20 against 29 rakes in July’20.
