India: NMDC Iron Ore Production Up 2%; Sales Up 19% in Nov’17

NMDC’s iron ore sales from Karnataka nearly doubled from 0.58 MnT in Oct’17 to 1.09 MnT in Nov’17.

NMDC India’s largest iron ore producer has reported increase of 2% M-o-M in Nov’17 as it was 2.63 MnT iron ore in Nov’17 against 2.58 MnT in Oct’17. Out of 2.63 MnT iron ore produced in Nov’17, 1.69 MnT was produced from NMDC’s Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh, up 8% M-o-M and the rest 0.94 MnT was produced from Karnataka mines, down 7% M-o-M.

On yearly premises, NMDC‘s iron ore production in Nov’17 has come down by 20% compared to 3.29 MnT in the same month last year.

So far in FY’18 (Apr -Nov’17) NMDC’s iron ore production has been increased by 4% to 20.86 MnT compared to 20.09 MnT in the same time period last year.

NMDC iron ore sales Up 19% in Nov’17- Sales were up by 19% M-o-M to 2.61 MnT in Nov’17 against 2.19 MnT in Oct’17. Iron ore sales from Chhattisgarh mines were recorded at 1.52 MnT (down by 6% M-o-M) and Karnataka stood at 1.09 MnT (up by 88%) in Nov’17.

However on yearly basis, it was down by 28% in Nov’17 against 3.63 MnT in the same month last year.

So far in FY18 (Apr-Nov’17) NMDC’s iron ore sales has been increased by 1% to 22.41 MnT compared to 22.59 MnT in the same time period last year.

NMDC achieved nearly 20% yearly growth in its iron ore output last fiscal and produced 34.15 MnT FY’17 against 28.58 MnT in FY’16. The iron ore miner significantly raised its iron ore output from Chhattisgarh mines from 16.6 MnT in FY’16 to 22.03 MnT in FY17.
