India: NMDC (C.G.) iron ore rake movement up 42% in Sep’20

NMDC has supplied a total of 275 rakes (1.06 mn t) of iron ore from its Chhattisgarh mines in the month of Sep’20, up 42% m-o-m. The dispatches are higher against 193 rakes (0.74 mn t) in Aug’20, according to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint.

NMDC’s iron ore rake movement from its Chhattisgarh mines to state-based steel units has moved up 16% to 43 rakes (0.17 mn t) in Sep’20 compared to 37 rakes (0.14 mn t) a month ago, as per railway movement data maintained with SteelMint.

NMDC’s supplies to outside state-based units up 52% in Sep’20:

The procurement by outside C.G based units picked for the month by 52% in Sep’20 to 198 rakes (about 0.76 mn t), against 130 rakes a month ago.

Movement for exports increased 31% to 34 rakes in Sep’20 against 26 rakes in Aug’20.

According to a trade sources report received to SteelMint last week, NMDC’s iron ore production has been impacted due to extreme weather conditions & increased COVID cases, due to which production has been curtailed to two-shifts instead of three.
