NMDC’s latest slime auction from its Bacheli mines saw a mixed response on 19 September, with 20,000 t booked at the base price of INR 1,450/t ($15/t) on an FOT basis, while the larger 30,100 t lot was booked at INR 1,950/t ($20/t) on an FOR basis.
The FOR lot achieved a premium of INR 500/t, or around 34.5%, over the base price, indicating stronger bidder acceptance. However, the price differential should be viewed in the context of the different delivery terms, as the FOT lot was offered at Bacheli, while the FOR lot involved transport arrangements by the bidder.
The auction covered slime with Fe 56% (+/-1.5%), SiO2 13-15% and Al2O3 2-3%.
