India’s largest exporter of pig iron – Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) dispatched 27,915 MT of pig iron in Oct’17. Company’s pig iron dispatches have come down 30% M-o-M as it was recorded at 40,074 MT in Sept’17.
Company’s hot metal production in Oct’17 stood at 34,140 MT, up 14% M-o-M and its pig iron production was recorded at 32,092 MT last month. Its pig iron production has increased by 14% M-o-M as it was 28,256 MT in Sept’17.
As per sources, NINL plant maintenance shutdown has been postponed to this month after meeting export and domestic orders.
According to provisional customs data maintained with SteelMint, Indian pig iron exports were recorded at 0.50 MnT in CY17 (till Oct’17), out which share of NINL was nearly 44%. Major destinations for Indian pig iron exports were Thailand, USA, Taiwan , Bangladesh & Italy.
MMTC’s export tender on behalf of NINL for 15,000 MT basic grade pig iron is due to expire today (i.e 08 Nov’17).
NINL – promoted by MMTC Ltd, Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Ltd (IPICOL), Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and other government agencies – has set up an 1.1 MnT of integrated iron and steel plant at Kalinganagar, Odisha. It is the country’s largest exporter of pig iron since 2004.
