India: NALCO raises aluminium ingot price by INR 1,500/t on firm LME

  • NALCO raises IE10 aluminium ingot price
  • LME aluminium stocks fall 6.1% from the start of August

National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) has raised its IE10 aluminium ingot price by INR 1,500/t, or 0.4%, to INR 361,600/t. The revised price is effective from 1 September 2026, compared with INR 360,100/t on 29 August.

Global aluminium prices strengthen

The LME three-month aluminium contract stood at $3,284/t in the latest available data, up 1.3% from $3,241/t on 29 August. Prices have also risen 2.2% from $3,212/t at the start of August.

The stronger LME market is providing support to domestic aluminium prices. However, the pace of gains remains moderate as downstream demand continues to limit a sharper recovery.

Meanwhile, LME aluminium inventories stood at 246,725 t in the latest available data, unchanged from 29 August. Stocks have fallen by 15,925 t, or 6.1%, from 262,650 t at the start of August.

The continued decline in exchange stocks is providing some support to aluminium prices by reducing available inventory. At the same time, the relatively stable stock level in recent sessions suggests that the immediate tightening in exchange inventories has paused.

Domestic aluminium prices remain range-bound

The latest NALCO increase comes as global aluminium prices move higher, supported by lower exchange inventories. However, the unchanged prices from BALCO and Hindalco indicate that domestic producers are still cautious about passing the full global price recovery into the local market.

Overall, NALCO’s latest revision points to a gradual firming in domestic aluminium prices. Stronger LME prices and lower exchange stocks are providing a supportive backdrop, while subdued downstream demand is limiting the extent of the increase.
