Punjab-based Nabha Power has been sanctioned transfer of coal linkage for supply from the Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) replacing the current supplier, South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), under the linkage rationalisation policy of Coal India Ltd (CIL). The decision would help the power plant save 20-22 paisa per unit in power generation cost due to the reduction in freight cost. Ultimately, this saving will be passed on to the Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL) that procures electricity from the company through a long-term PPA.
