The vessel-line up data (as on 28 May’21) maintained with CoalMint reveals that a total volume of 4.85 million tonnes (mn t) of thermal coal is slated to come into India between 28 May-15 June’21.
• The highest volume of 0.76 mn t is to arrive at Mundra Port. Around 0.37 mn t will be from Australia, 0.28 mn t from Indonesia and 0.13 mn t from the U.S. Coastal Gujarat Power will have the highest shipment of 0.30 mn t arriving at Mundra Port from Australia during the above-mentioned period.
• Kandla Port will receive the second-highest volume of 0.60 mn t with the maximum quantity (0.26 mn t) coming in from Indonesia followed by the US (0.21 mn t) and Australia (0.13 mn t).
• Ennore Port will receive the third-highest volume of thermal coal at 0.54 mn t with the major quantity (0.24 mn t) coming in from Indonesia, 0.14 mn t from Australia, and 0.12 mn t from the US.
Highest quantity of coal coming from Indonesia
Out of the total quantity of thermal coal arriving from various countries, the highest volume is from Indonesia at 1.82 mn t followed by Australia at 1.25 mn t.

• In case of vessels arriving from Indonesia, the highest quantity is for Adani Enterprise at 0.28 mn t, followed by Adani Power at 0.18 mn t and Agarwal Coal at 0.17 mn t.
• For vessels arriving from Australia, the highest quantity is booked by JSW Energy at 0.38 mn t followed by Coastal Gujarat Power at 0.30 mn t.
• For South African coal, JSW Energy has booked the highest quantity of 0.26 mn t, arriving at Krishnapatnam and Manglore ports, followed by IMR Resource’s vessel of 0.16 mn t at Vizag Port. At Haldia Port, a limited quantity of 30,000 tonnes will be arriving for SM Niryat.
JSW Energy tops buyers’ list
JSW Energy tops the buyers’ list with 0.61 mn t of thermal coal expected to arrive at Indian ports from Australia (0.35 mn t) and South Africa (0.25 mn t).
Amongst traders, Adani Enterprise tops the list of buyers with 0.50 mn t of thermal coal arriving from Indonesia (0.28 mn t), 0.16 mn t from South Africa, and 0.07 mn t from Australia. This is followed by Swiss Singapore whose thermal coal stock willarrive from the US (0.21 mn t) and Indonesia (0.09 mn t).
