MMTC, one of the major global players in mineral trade and largest exporter of mineral from India, has invited overseas producers/suppliers/traders for import of 110,000 MT Haematite Iron ore fines and 50,000 MT Haematite Iron ore lump on FOBST/CFR basis.
Bidders shall submit their price bid in USD/MT for both FOBST (loading port) and CFR (discharge port) basis.
Bidders should submit the following supporting documents in order to fulfill the eligibility criteria:
- Estimated reserves of Iron ore in million tonnes at the time of submission of offer and certificate indicating validity of the mining rights for the Iron ore mines
- Detailed information regarding the mine operator/producer along with published Annual Accounts & Annual Report of the preceding two years
- Production capacity of Iron ore mine and average annual production of Iron ore fines & lump for the last two preceding years
- Export of Iron ore fines & lump during the last two years from the mines from which Iron ore is being offered

Last date of bid submission will be 16 Jan, 2015 at 14.00 hrs and technical bids will open on the same day at 14.30 hrs. Also, price bids will open on 21 Jan, 2015 at 10.00 hrs.
MMTC will normally award contract to lowest bidder.
Indian Iron ore import hit an all time high of 6.8 MnT (till Nov’14) over several restrictions imposed by the Supreme Court in order to check illegal mining. Imports are likely to be 11-12 MnT this financial year (FY15).
Imported Iron ore lump of Fe 64% from South Africa assessed at around USD 95-98/MT, CIF India for capesize vessel and Fe 64% fines assessed at around USD 74-76/MT, CIF India.
