India: Met coke imports fall by over 40% m-o-m in August

India’s met coke imports fell by 44% m-o-m to 0.2 mnt in Aug’22. The significant fall in imports can be attributed to low demand by steel mills due to the export duty in place. However, during Jan-Aug’22, met coke imports increased by 12% y-o-y at 1.9 mnt due to cheaper availability of Chinese coke.
