India Met Coke Import Down 17% M-o-M in Dec’18

Indian metallurgical coke imports have fallen by 17.38% to 0.33 million tonnes (MnT) in Dec’18, as compared to 0.40 MnT in Nov’18, as per the vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.

However, the Dec’18 imports have increased by a whopping 38.48% from 0.24 MnT of met coke imports recorded in Dec’17.

Moreover, on a year-on-year basis, India’s total met coke imports have totaled 4.93 MnT in CY 2018, up 22.33% against 4.03 MnT of met coke imports in CY 2017.

Country Wise India Met Coke Import in Dec’18:

A country-wise break-up of the monthly import data reveals that the major proportion of the shipments continued to be originated from China, accounting for 41% share.

However, Indian met coke imports from China fell by nearly 14% M-o-M to 0.13 MnT in Dec’18, against 0.15 MnT in Nov’18.

Following China, Poland accounted for 21% share of the Indian met coke imports in Dec’18.

Australia and Japan both constituted 10% shares each of the Indian met coke imports in Dec’18.
