India: Melting scrap prices show mixed trends across markets

Steel melting scrap prices dropped by INR 500-700/t, particularly in Punjab due to lack of demand for semi-finished steel amidst a sharp correction in sponge iron prices. However, western India-based markets witnessed a marginal uptick in prices by around INR 500/t especially in the Alang market on account of improved steel transactions during yesterday’s trading session. Prices may vary in the short term, sources informed.
