Melting scrap prices in Alang increased by INR 100/t today. HMS (80:20) prices are at INR 38,100/t. Scrap suppliers are trying to keep prices high but the Gujarat market remained closed yesterday on Makar Sankranti and due to falling semi-finished steel prices in the central and northern regions many mill owners in Gujarat are holding purchases at prevailing high offers, sources shared.
