Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Alang, Gujarat, remained stable for the third consecutive day on 19 Dec’24. According to BigMint’s assessment, HMS (80:20) was at INR 34,500/t ($406/t) ex-yard. Despite an uptick in semi-finished prices across regions, mills in Bhavnagar preferred domestic scrap due to cost viability compared to Alang’s ship-breaking yard scrap. This led suppliers to keep prices at same levels.
