Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang increased by INR 500/t d-o-d on 8 May’24, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices were assessed at INR 39,500/t ($473/t) exy. Trade activities in semi-finished and finished steel were at a moderate level in yesterday’s session due to the assembly elections in the region. Meanwhile, a shortage of scrap still persists in the market.
