India: Melting scrap prices increase by INR 200/t d-o-d in Alang, Gujarat

Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang rose by INR 200/t d-o-d on 5 May’25, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices stood at INR 33,900/t ($402/t) exy. The market saw an increase in inquiries for both semi-finished and finished steel in previous trading sessions, driving active demand for scrap. As a result, scrap suppliers have adjusted their prices upward in response to the increased buying interest.
