Melting scrap prices today rose by around INR 1,000-1,300/t, especially in the western and northern regions on account of the recovery in sponge iron and semi-finished steel prices and greater activity in the finished steel market particularly in Jalna, Maharashtra. Scrap prices remained supported in the northern region as well on shortage of raw material due to administrative crackdown, SteelMint notes.
