Melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang dropped by INR 300/t today. The trade reference price for HMS (80:20) is assessed at INR 37,200/t, while attachment scrap prices stand at INR 38,200/t. Limited transactions in semi-finished steel and lack of demand for finished steel have led to the fall in scrap prices. However, cutting operations and trading activity may be affected today due to bad weather, sources informed.
