Steel melting scrap prices witnessed a sharp increase across key Indian markets in line with rising sponge iron and semi-finished prices following the increase in bids in SAIL’s pig iron auction. Meanwhile, increasing domestic scrap prices made imports favourable as global scrap (HMS 1:2) of middle east origin is available in the range of $545-555/t CNF Mumbai basis, SteelMint notes.
