Melting scrap prices witnessed a hike in most markets on 3 Jan’22. Prices rose by around INR 700/t, particularly in Chennai, following an improvement in semi-finished steel prices amid inadequate supply. Other markets also saw prices going higher in the range of INR 100-300/t. However, in the Alang market, prices corrected slightly due to limited trades in semi-finished material.
