Shipbreaking melting scrap prices declined by INR 600/t d-o-d in Gujarat’s Alang market, SteelMint assessment shows. HMS (80:20) prices are assessed at INR 40,200/t ex-yard. The drop in semi-finished steel prices and inadequate buying inquiries for scrap at higher price levels amid lack of trading activities in the spot market forced suppliers to push prices lower.
