Buyer participation
Jindal Steel was the largest buyer, securing 450,000 t, including 380,000 t G14 and 70,000 t G12. Alps Mining Services followed with 142,500 t, while Tata Steel secured 66,000 t. Rungta Mines purchased 60,200 t, while Feegrade and Company secured 55,000 t of G13.
Overall market view
The 19 September MCL auction showed that bidding remained strong for selected higher-grade coal sources, particularly G12. Winning prices at Ananta and Bhubaneswari increased from the 10 September auction, while Jagannath also attracted the highest premium in the latest auction. However, G14 bidding remained mixed, with Hingula seeing a lower outcome while Samleswari moved above the notified price. The variation across mine-grade combinations indicated that buyer interest remained focused on specific sources rather than being broad-based across the entire offering.
