India: Major ERW pipe manufacturer increases list prices for mid-Apr’26 sales

  • Demand remains slow-to-moderate amid price hikes
  • Cost pressures, geopolitical tensions keep outlook volatile

A major Indian manufacturer in ERW pipes, specialising in hot-rolled coil (HRC)-based products, has increased list prices of its base-grade pipes (25-125 NB, 2.2-6 mm) by INR 1,500/t ($16/t) across various locations for mid-April 2026 sales compared with early-April 2026, market participants told BigMint.

Post revisions in the month, list prices reached INR 67,500/t ($729/t) exy-Raipur, INR 69,500/t ($744/t) exy-Pune, and INR 69,500/t ($744/t) exy-Bengaluru, excluding 18% GST. The revised prices are effective from 13 April 2026.

Market update

Distributor-level weekly average prices of ERW pipes in Pune increased by INR 1,000/t ($11/t) w-o-w to INR 64,500/t ($691/t) compared with INR 63,500/t ($680/t) in the previous week.

Distributor-level weekly average prices of ERW pipes in Raipur increased by INR 600/t ($6/t) w-o-w to INR 64,100/t ($686/t) compared with INR 63,500/t ($680/t) in the previous week.

Presently, price increases are not fully aligned with demand, which is moderate to slow. This has created uncertainty among participants regarding the sustainability of current prices.

At the same time, ongoing geopolitical tensions are constraining raw material flows, exerting upward pressure on costs and adding strain across the supply chain.

Trade-level HRC prices rise w-o-w

Trade-level prices of hot-rolled coils (HRC) in India remained stable-to-slightly lower this week, with HRC prices assessed in the range of INR 57,300-61,000/t ($616-655/t), as subdued demand and cautious market sentiment continued to weigh on prices. This decrease may affect the pipe market in the near term.

Outlook

ERW pipe prices are expected to remain volatile with a mild upward bias, supported by cost pressures and geopolitical uncertainties. However, moderate demand, cautious buying, and falling HRC prices are likely to limit sharp price increases and keep market sentiment balanced in the near term.
