The vessel-line up data (as on 4 June’21) maintained with CoalMint reveals that a total volume of 4.61 million tonnes (mn t) of thermal coal will arrive at Indian ports between 1-16 June’21.
- The highest volume of 0.79 mn t will arrive at Krishnapatnam Port with 0.47 mn t coming from South Africa, 0.14 mn t from Australia, and 0.10 mn t from Indonesia.
- Adani Enterprise has the highest shipment of 0.18 mn t arriving at Krishnapatnam Port from South Africa (0.16 mn t) and a small quantity of 19,500 tonnes (t) from Indonesia.
- Following Krishnapatnam, Ennore Port is to receive the second-highest volume of 0.61 mn t of thermal coal with the maximum quantity (0.14 mn t) coming from Australia followed by the US (0.12 mn t) and South Africa (0.11 mn t).
- Kandla Port is the next highest receiver of thermal coal at 0.48 mn t with 0.25 mn t arriving from the US, 0.13 mn t from Australia and 0.05 mn t from Indonesia and South Africa each.
Highest quantity coming from Indonesia
Out of the total volume of thermal coal arriving from various countries, the highest is coming from Indonesia at 1.34 mn t followed by South Africa at 1.17 mn t.

- In case of vessels arriving from Indonesia, the highest volume is for Adani Enterprise at 0.33 mn t followed by Agarwal Coal at 0.17 mn t and II&FS Tamil Nadu Power at 0.14 mn t.
- For South African coal, Adani Enterprise has booked the highest quantity of 0.49 mn t, arriving at Krishnapatnam and Dhamra ports, followed by JSW Energy’s vessel of 0.16 mn t at Krishnapatnam Port. At Dahej Port, a limited quantity of 55,000 tonnes is coming for Hindalco Industries.
- For vessels arriving from Australia, the highest quantity has been booked by Coastal Gujarat Power at 0.29 mn t followed by JSW Energy at 0.21 mn t.
Adani Enterprise tops buyers’ list
Adani Enterprise tops the list of buyers with 0.81 mn t of thermal coal expected to arrive at Indian ports from Indonesia (0.33 mn t) and South Africa (0.49 mn t).
This is followed by Swiss Singapore whose thermal coal vessels are arriving from the US (0.25 mn t), Indonesia (89,770 t), and South Africa (52,991 t).
