Krishnapatnam port is turning out to be a major port for import of Iron ore by steelmakers like JSW Steel and Tata Steel because of low waiting period and good availability of rakes.
In a data compiled by SteelMint, it is noticed that port has imported 1.9 MnT Iron ore during Apr’14-Sep’14 and another 1.1 MnT is in pipeline, which will be imported in October. JSW Steel is to remain the highest importer at Krishnapatnam port with total imports of around 2.5 MnT till October.
Tata Steel, who was battling with Iron ore dispatches issue from Haldia and Paradip ports owing to low availability of rakes, have also started importing ore at Krishnapatnam port.
