India: Karnataka Power looks for 1 MnT Imported Steam Coal

Karnataka Power Corporation Limited is to purchase 1 MnT imported Steam coal in order to meet the operational requirements of its Raichur Thermal Power Station on firm price basis.

Scope of work includes supply of 1 MnT Steam coal during the contact period of 1 year, dispatch of coal from coal mines from abroad through ships to unloading port in India, loaded on wagons and dispatch of the wagons to Raichur Thermal Plant.

Bidders should be mine owners or traders of imported coal. They should posses experience in exporting at least 5 MnT Steam coal or coke to India in past 5 fiscal years and should have achieved minimum financial turnover of 1,090 crore in past 2 fiscal years. Also, they should have reserve backup of more than 2 MnT Steam coal from single source.

Price should be quoted on CIFD basis in INR/MT and blended & ROM coal shall not to be offered.

On issue of Release Order, the successful bidders shall provide information regarding name of the vessel, expected date of departure from the load port and expected date of arrival & port of discharge.

 Material Specification

  • GCV (ADB): 6300 kcal/kg
  • Ash (ADB): Upto 10%
  • Sulphur (ADB): Upto 0.6%
  • Total moisture (ARB): Upto 16%
  • Size of coal: 0-50 mm
  • Volatile matter (ADB): 25-45%

In order to avoid bunching of rakes to RTPS, the supplier should arrange maximum 3 rakes within 48 hours with a gap of 12 hours between two consecutive rakes. Documents should be submitted on or before 03 Jan, 2015 at 13.00 hrs.
