India: Karnataka miners to auction over 150,000 t of iron ore and pellets

  • Vedanta auction silicious and hematite lumps
  • NMDC yet to declare prices for Donimalai auction

Karnataka will see auctions of around 157,000 t iron ore and pellets during 27-30 May’26.

    • NMDC Donimalai: The company has scheduled an auction for 48,000 t (10-40 mm, Fe 52%) iron ore lumps and 48,000 t fines (Fe 56%) on 27 May. Floor prices are yet to be declared and will be exclusive of royalty, DMF and NMEDT.
    • Meanwhile another auction for 8,000 t of iron ore pellets (6-16 mm, Fe: 62%, SiO2: 3.50 – 4.50%, Al2O3: 4.00 – 4.50%) from its Donimalai pellet plant has been set on 27 May. Prices are not yet declared, and will be on FOT basis.
    • Vedanta: Vedanta Iron & Steel Ltd has scheduled an auction for 17,000 t of iron ore from its mines in Bheemasamudra, Karnataka on 27 May. The material comprises 5,000 t (6-20 mm, Fe 49.75-53.75%) and 12,000 t (10-40 mm, Fe 52-53.5%) of silicious and hematite lumps.
    • SKMEPL: Sri Kumaraswamy Mineral Exports Private Ltd has scheduled an auction for 36,000 t (10-40 mm, Fe 56.5-56.6%) iron ore lumps from its Karnataka mines on 30 May. Base price yet to be declared by the miner which include royalty, DMF and NMET.
