India: Karnataka Iron Ore E-auction receives Poor Response

Recent Iron ore e-auction in Karnataka held on 24 Apr, 2015 received dull response, with 90% of the material remaining unsold.

Out of 0.38 MnT Iron ore offered (0.19 MnT fines & 0.19 MnT lump), only 36,000 MT (28,000 MT lump & 8000 MT fines) was sold. The material was offered by private miners.

The e-auction fetched flat bids. Floor & bid prices for fines (Fe 62.5%) stood at INR 1,850/MT. Base & bid prices for lump (Fe 63.8%) was at INR 3,040/MT. Largest buyer was Sesa Sterlite at 12,000 MT.
