A recent notification released by the Government of Karnataka contains the list of technically qualified bidders (TQBs) for iron ore mine block auctions. SteelMint had reported that around 25 companies qualified for the next round of auctions.
Companies such as JSW Steel, Vedanta, Kirloskar Ferous Industries Ltd. have qualified in the technical round for the iron ore blocks of Vyasankare, Jainsingpur North, Jainsingpur South, HR Gaviappa and Somanahalli, as per the latest notification seen by SteelMint.
Training and mock auction for the TQBs is scheduled on 15 March, 2023 on MSTC portal.
These are the first iron ore mines in the state to be auctioned after the Centre removed the export duty on iron ore and pellets, and the Supreme Court allowed Karnataka’s miners to sell iron ore directly. The implications of these moves should reflect on the premiums the auctions fetch.
