JSW Steel – India’s largest steel maker has recorded a drop in its crude steel output of 5% Q-o-Q as it declined from 4.1 MnT in Q4 FY17 to 3.91 MnT in Q1 FY18.
However the steel maker has observed marginal increase of 1% in its crude steel output in Q1 FY18 compared to the same time span in previous fiscal. Company’s crude steel production has moved up to 3.91 MnT in Q1 FY18 against 3.87 MnT in Q1 FY17.
Flat steel production up 1% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY18 – JSW Steel’s flat steel output was recorded at 2.76 MnT in Q1 FY18 against 2.74 MnT in Q1 FY17, up 1%. However on quarterly premises, it has come down by 7%.
Long steel output down 2% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY18 – JSW Steel’s long steel production stood at 0.83 MnT in Q1 FY18 compared to 0.85 MnT in Q1 FY17, down 2% Y-o-Y. However on quarterly premises the figure is up by 1%.

JSW Steel is India’s largest steel maker in terms of production and achieved 26% Y-o-Y growth in its crude steel output in FY17 with output of 15.8 MnT. The steel maker achieved 100% production guidance laid in the last fiscal. The company has three plants located in Vijayanagar, Dolvi and Salem and has a total crude steel making capacity of 18 MnT pa.
