India: JSPL emerges as preferred bidder for Utkal coal blocks

Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has bagged the Utkal-B1 and B2 blocks in the fourth tranche of commercial coal mining auctions at a bid price of 15.25%. The blocks, with combined geological reserves of 347 mnt, are spread across Odisha’s Angul district, but the Ministry of Coal had considered their sale against a single bid. Five other bidders were in contention, among whom were JSW Steel and Shyam Metaliks.
